Coke Plus Coffee Review

Coke Plus Coffee – S$1.80

  • 240ml
  • First version was released by Japan as Coke Coffee Plus
  • This one is the Thai version. Whether it is different I don’t know.
  • 7 Eleven exclusive in Singapore when it’s released 8 Nov 2018

Doesn’t actually taste much like coffee, or smell like it. Has a coffee like after taste though. Much of it tastes somewhat like Diet Coke, having a less sugary taste compared to normal Coke. If you like coke, you might like this for its interesting variation on the drink.

For people looking to this as a coffee replacement, apparently the drink does contains twice the caffeine of regular coke. According to this, regular coke is about 23.7mg for about 226.7 ml, and Coffee is about 65mg to 175mg for 226.7 ml (I blame the Americans for using Ounces to result in this weird number) depending on what type of coffee you are comparing to.

The drink is also very gassy, although that probably depends on a lot of factors, since regular coke can be pretty gassy as well.

Rating for Coke Plus Coffee

I rate food based on how far I am willing to travel, as well as whether I think the price I paid for it justifies it. You can read more about why here.

Does this new flavor exclusive to 7 Eleven warrant a trip to the nearest outlet right now? Not really. Though it is an interesting flavor, it really isn’t anything sensational to rush to get it.

At $1.80 per can, it might be on the expensive side for a spin on the taste of classic coke, but it might be worth a try.

But I’m just a fat boi… What do other people think?

The Media

Shin-Shouhin (translated literally means “new products”) said “I didn’t think it tasted good, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be,”. Translated by ExtraCrispy.

The Coffee Concierge seems to like it, though the score is 5.8/10 (not sure that is rated on being a coffee or just a drink). “like taking a sip of Coke, followed by a sip of cold coffee.” Youtube version: Doesn’t like the smell, taste is like coke upfront, then coffee creeps in as an aftertaste, and then finishes with a brown sugar flavor.

Taylor R seems to like it.

WrecklessEating thinks it is not that bad. Drink is very smooth and seems to get better every sip.
