Dissecting the Burger

McDonalds Red Hot Spicy Peppers Burger

Some tomato jalapeno relish, spicy tomato mayo, lettuce, few slices of red bell pepper, 1 slice of tomato, 1 slice of cheese, and a McChicken patty on the bottom.

Nothing on the bottom bun.

A messy cross section, but it shows good ratio of sauce, meat and bun. Overall, construction of the burger is pretty solid. I might be wrong, since it’s been a long time since I ate McChicken, but it felt like the chicken patty is also thicker than the McChicken patty (though my logical reasoning says that it is probably not).

Chicken patty tastes exactly like McChicken patty (probably the same), and is a meatball texture, almost sponge like. Can’t say I am a fan of the McChicken, so using this is an immediate minus points. For a fried patty, the crust is also lacking a crispy texture.

Tomato mayo and jalapeno relish are pretty spicy, giving a lingering heaty sensation, though it is not very spicy to the point of reaching for the water, as a person who don’t usually eat spicy foods. The sauce is definitely on the sweet side, and overall doesn’t taste bad. However, the taste of the McChicken is pretty significant, and in the end I can’t say that I like this burger.

Rating for McDonalds Red Hot Spicy Peppers Burger

I rate food based on how far I am willing to travel, as well as whether I think the price I paid for it justifies it. You can read more about why here.

Travel-meter:

It’s not worth going to McDonald’s specially just to try a burger that is essentially McChicken with some added condiments.

Worth-it-meter:

Paying more than S$2 for the added sauces on top of a McChicken doesn’t seem worth it.

But I’m just a fat boi… What do other people think?

People who wanna eat this burger solely based on spice will probably be sorely disappointed. People who like McChicken will probably like this.

The Media

HaveHalalWillTravel seems to like it, though the writer seems to have gotten the patty wrong, implying that McChicken patty is breast meat.

8Days seem to mostly talk about spice levels, saying it’s not as spicy as claimed, though they seem to like the burger decently.

GoodyFeed rates it 2/5.

People on Cleo seem to mostly not like it.

PrisChew seems to like it, comparing as an alternative to McSpicy.

chin wei rates the burger 0/10 based on spice levels and 8/10 based on being a burger.

The Community

A few Hardwarezone users seem to like it decently, but when compared to McSpicy (McLaoSai in this thread, for cultural reasons) the burger falls short.
